Bright Public Briefing welcomes considered pitches about the language and design of information intended for the public. Proposals should offer readers a clear way to notice how a text works.
What to pitch
We welcome original ideas about notices, forms, service explanations, document structure, plain language and the small wording choices that affect interpretation. A pitch should have one central question, a defined kind of text and a reader-facing reason to examine it. Practical comparisons and concise explainers are especially suitable.
What makes a strong proposal
Tell us the proposed subject, the main point you would make and how you would support it. Be specific about the example or type of material, avoid claims that require unsupported statistics or access to confidential information, and explain any limits or local differences a reader should know. Do not send material you are not entitled to share.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a short outline and a brief note about your relevant experience, if useful. A proposal is not a promise of publication; we may ask for revisions or further clarification.
Clarity starts with careful reading
Public information can be brief without being easy to interpret. We look at its wording and structure, helping readers notice distinctions before drawing conclusions.
